A post on Fitness Websites by Allen Hill
Looking for a way to get started with your own fitness websites to promote your personal training or fitness bootcamp on the Internet?
You’re not alone.
In fact, how to get started with personal trainer and fitness bootcamp websites is probably one of the most frequent questions I get here.
(And the number of people that bypass the comments section and send me questions about fitness websites via email… well, there’s a LOT more of those (even though it drives me nuts when they do that – I really wish they’d just post their questions in the comments so YOU got to benefit from the answers, too).
Anyway…
This whole business of getting your own website can be pretty overwhelming… especially if you’re new to all this Internet stuff. Most fitness trainers I speak with tell me they just don’t know what they really need, what they should avoid, or where to even start.
And a lot more tell me that they KNOW they need a website… but they’re just afraid of making an expensive mistake that they can’t really afford to make.
So if you’re looking for a way to get setup with you own fitness website to market and promote your personal training and fitness bootcamps online…
In this post, I’m going to show you SEVERAL different ways you can get started with your own fitness website right now, even if you’re on a super tight budget.
Let’s get started…

First of all, I want to put what’s probably one of your biggest worries to rest right now… because you don’t have to burn through a wad of cash to make fitness internet marketing work for you.
To me, all this “fitness websites and Internet marketing” stuff is supposed to be about you MAKING money… not spending it.
That being said, you’ve still only got 2 real options available to you if you want to put your fitness business on the Internet…
- Option 1: Pay Someone To Build a Fitness Website For You
- Option 2: Build It Yourself
If your immediate reaction is to do everything yourself because it’s free that way… you’ve got to remember that it’s really NOT free if you build your own website, and here’s why…
You have to factor in the value of your time, what that’s worth to you, and ALSO the amount of money it will COST you (and it WILL cost you, just because you’re putting your time into building a website as opposed to doing some of the other activities in your business that make you money).
So in reality, you’re going to end up paying something (in some way, shape, or form) no matter how you slice it.
That being said, here’s how I’d go about getting started with a new personal trainer website or a new fitness bootcamp website…
Done-For-You Fitness Websites: Full Service Web Design Options
If your budget will let you get away with it, I’d much rather see you invest a little bit of money into having someone build a fitness website for you.
Sure, it’ll be a little chunk of money out of your pocket for right now…
But like I already mentioned, you’ve got to keep in mind how much your time (and sanity) is actually worth to you.
Plus, I’m a firm believer that YOU should do the stuff you’re great at, and let someone else (someone that really knows what they’re doing) handle everything else for you.
So like I said, if your budget allows it, pay someone with experience to do this stuff… and you focus on taking care of your clients (or getting MORE of them).
Here are the fitness website design packages we offer:
- Premium Fitness Website Package
This is our most popular package. It’s also the one that costs the most… but only because it comes with everything but the kitchen sink. It includes your own custom designed fitness website (that can look literally ANY way you want it to look).
It also includes a matching WordPress blog that not only keeps the same look and feel of your website… but it’s also loaded with all the best internet marketing plug-ins to help you promote your fitness business online a LOT easier.
We even write your lead generating sales letter for you, too. Plus there’s even an automated email autoresponder and fitness newsletter sending system built right in, and a lot more really.
- Basic Fitness Website Package
I’ll admit, the first option is only going to be right for you if you have a budget to work with.
So, if you need to keep things as low cost as you can, this will probably be better for you. With the Basic Fitness Website Package, you get your choice of either the custom designed fitness website, OR the custom blog.
This will let you keep your costs down, but either way you go, it can still look any way you want it to look.

Do-It-Yourself Fitness Websites: Low Cost (and even FREE) Options
I’m going to show you some Do-It-Yourself ways to get your own fitness website up and running super fast. And the best part is…
It’s also super low cost. Like under $20.
So no matter what your finances look like, this will help…
How to build your own website starting from a pre-built fitness website template.
Again, don’t worry… this is a lot easier than you’d think. All you really need to get started are a couple of things…
- a fitness website template
- an HTML editor
- a web hosting account
- a piece of free FTP software
If any of that sounds like gibberish to you, have no fear… I’m going to go over all of it with you right here so you know what all this stuff is, what it’s for, and where you can get it.
And I’ve even got some free fitness website design video tutorials for you, too. I’ll tell you more about those in a minute…
1) Fitness Website Template – This is basically just the empty shell of a fitness website. So with a template, you’ll have the layout, the graphics that make the header and the logo, all the navigation buttons, etc… and you can just make as copies of that blank template over and over again so you use it to build as many fitness web pages as you want.
Going with a template will keep your life simple and headache free. NOT using a template means you’ll have to create every single part of every single web page by hand… over and over again, every single time you make a new addition to your site.
Trust me… you don’t want to do that.
Here are a few ways to find a fitness website template you can use…
- Google search – you might have to spend some serious time browsing a lot of different sites until you find something you like. Doing it this way can end up being pretty damn expensive, once you factor in all the time spent browsing while no real progress is being made building your website.
- Hire a freelance web designer – This can actually be a lot faster than looking all over hell’s half-acre trying to find an off the shelf template you like, but you gotta be careful here too. A lot of the time, you’ll be dealing with someone who speaks English as a SECOND language, and because of that reason alone, you’ve got to be VERY careful in your communications or things will get messed up. And do-over’s get expensive fast.
I’ve also posted some free fitness website templates here… And you can also watch a video on how to use them there, too.
One piece of the puzzle down, now only 3 more to go. Here’s the second…
2) HTML editor – An HTML editor is just a simple piece of software that you use to build and edit web pages.
You know how Microsoft Word lets you type a document (or even open and edit an existing document)?… Well an HTML editor will let you do the same thing on your fitness website.
If you’ve got an HTML editor, you’re already in business. But since they don’t come pre-installed on most computers, my guess is you’ll have to go out and get one.
- I recommend Kompozer for a couple of reasons.
First, it’s totally free. And second it’s really easy to use. Kinda reminds me of the old 2000 version of Word. Ah, the memories.
You can get Kompozer for Windows or Mac by clicking here .
And I’ve added a video that shows you how to download, install, and start using Kompozer to build your own fitness website here.
3) Fitness Website Hosting account – A web hosting account is what actually puts your fitness website online. Think of it like service for your cell phone… without being connected to a cell phone network (like AT&T or Verizon), the phone doesn’t work.
Without web hosting, your website isn’t on the Internet. Make sense?
Luckily hosting is super cheap. And you definitely don’t need to get anything fancy. In fact, I almost always encourage my clients to start with the smallest package and expand if you need to later.
No point in spending over $20 a month on this ($10 is even better).
You can check out our $10 fitness website hosting here.
One last thing you’ll need to get your own personal training or fitness bootcamp websites online, and that’s…
4) FTP software – This is just a simple piece of software that lets you upload stuff from your computer UP to the Internet. So in your case, you’ll use it to upload the fitness website you build on your computer TO your web hosting account.
Luckily, this stuff is free too. The FTP program I use is called Filezilla, and you can get it here.
I’ll also be posting a video that shows you how to download, install, and use Filezilla to get the fitness websites you built on the Internet soon, so be sure to check back.
If all this sounds a little rough to you, I really think these “Build Your Own Fitness Website” training videos and free fitness website templates will help you out a lot.
So there you have it… my definitive guide to getting started with your own fitness website. I hope it helped you.
Hopefully now, you’ll be able to establish an Internet presence for your personal training or fitness bootcamps no matter what your budget is right now.
But no matter what… you really should get started on this NOW.
Not having a website has already been costing you a TON of new clients and a butt-load-and-a-half of new money (money that could have been going in your pocket all along).
And it’s only going to get worse from here on out. Hell, it’s ALREADY to the point where if you don’t have a web presence, you essentially don’t exist.
Now’s your chance to capitalize on this whole Internet thing and USE IT to grow your fitness business into what you want it to be.
And if you run into any problems or questions along the way, just post them in the comments area below and I’ll be glad to help.
Talk to you later,

Allen
P.S. If there’s anything you have questions about, or anything you’d like to see me explain a little better…
…just let me know right down there in the comments.
